INVESTING TIME INTO OUR LOCAL CREATIVE COMMUNITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN AT THE HEART OF OUR ETHOS
Since we founded our video production agency in 2012, it has always been our aim to offer really worthwhile work experience to students with an interest in video production. Over the years, we have offered many work placement opportunities including two apprenticeships. Having always lived in North Lincolnshire, we know creative opportunities for students in our sector are hard to come by, and so investing time into the future of our local creative community has always been at the heart of our ethos as a company.
2019 has seen the opportunities continue, this time with Cameron and Harry, who both study on the Digital Media course at North Lindsey College. Our co-founder Peter Hewes knows this course well as he completed a BTEC Diploma at the same college 15 years ago. Cameron and Harry’s placement has consisted of two days a week for the past 12 weeks, and rather than fitting the stereotype and have them making tea at work, they have been working on live projects and dealing with real clients briefs, getting stuck into a variety of tasks from pre through to post-production.
Take a look at what Harry wrote about his experience below.
Hi, I’m Harry and I’ve been on a work experience placement at know. I am currently studying Creative Digital Media at North Lindsey College. This work experience placement has given me a lot of very valuable knowledge and experience within the field of videography. I have gained professional insight and techniques in editing and shooting video that has been a massive help in my college work.
I have also been lucky enough to go on a couple of shoot days at places such as Winteringham fields. Going on shoots has been the most beneficial for me as I struggled more with shooting than the editing side of things. I’ve learnt a lot about how professional cameras work and how things work on professional shoots that will in no doubt at all help me in my future career. It is a great and enjoyable place to work and learn things that you definitely wouldn’t get at college.
